“I have bought and sold a number of homes as I have moved frequently with my job. Melanie McCarthy is by far the best and most professional agent I have encountered. Her first priority was to assure me that she would only represent me as the seller and not also represent any potential buyer - thus I was sure to have full representation. Melanie’s next priority was to help prepare the house for show. She had a full contingent of resources to stage the house (select our furniture and art to keep, rent furniture to enhance the space, fix and paint nail holes or wall damage, take and highlight pictures for the ads, and clean the house/yard/deck. The next and most impressive task was to identify the best price to accomplish our goal of selling the house quickly but also to obtain best market value. Based on recent prices of sold homes we established a price and listed the home. Several appointments were made for the next day. However, the market was moving rapidly and several homes were accepting bids. Melanie suggested that we may want to also accept bids for a week to see what would happen. We agreed. The next day, the first couple to see the house offered full asking price. We told them about the bid process but countered their offer with a slightly higher price which they accepted. The closing was complicated by the fact that house was jointly owned by my brother, who lives in Oregon, and me (long story).
